Arts and Sciences Applicants

The TuftsPlus program offers tuition scholarships (maximum 50%) to Tufts undergraduates who are admitted to a participating master's program. It also offers a streamlined application process: the GRE requirement is waived and only two letters of recommendation are required. Tufts undergraduates may apply for an early decision to TuftsPlus after completing their junior year. The minimum GPA requirement for the TuftsPlus varies by department and students interested in applying to a program should consult the department's website. Biology

The TuftsPlus program is open to qualified undergraduates interested in a coursework masters in:

  • Ecology, Behavior and Evolution
  • Genetics and Molecular Biology
  • Developmental Biology
  • Neurobiology and Animal Behavior
  • Cell Physiology
  • Conservation and the Environment

Child Development

$70 application fee waived
GRE requirement waived
Only two letters of recommendation required (one from advisor)

The TuftsPlus program is open to qualified undergraduates interested in:

  • The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Early Childhood Education.
  • The Master of Arts in teaching (MAT) grades 1-6.

Minimum required GPA would be 3.0. students must have a
3.25 GPA in their senior year to be eligible for the 1/2 tuition
scholarship award.

Economics

The TuftsPlus program is open to qualified undergraduates interested in:

  • the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) for middle and high school Mathematics, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, English, Political Science/Political Philosophy, History, Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, General Science, Latin and Classical Humanities;
  • the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Art Education program for licensure to teach in grades PK-8 or grades 5-12;
  • the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Elementary Education;
  • the Master of Science (M.S.) in Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering Education; and
  • the Master of Arts (M.A.) in Educational Studies.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • strong recommendations,
  • a senior year GPA of 3.25 or better in their major, and a strong commitment to education and public service.

Normally only history majors would be considered, but the department will consider applicants from other majors on a case-by-case basis. Qualified applicants must have strong recommendations, a GPA of 3.25 or better and a strong commitment to academic research and scholarship.

Music

Open to qualified undergraduates seeking graduate studies in composition/theory, ethnomusicology, and musicology.

Qualified applicants must have strong recommendations and a GPA of 3.25 or better in their major.

Occupational Therapy

The TuftsPlus program is open to qualified undergraduates interested in the professional entry-level program in Occupational Therapy:

  • the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (M.S. in OT, no thesis)
  • the Master of Arts, Occupational Therapy (M.A., OT, thesis in social science area)
  • the Master of Science, Occupational Therapy (M.S., OT, with thesis in biological science area)
Qualified applicants must have:
  • strong recommendations,
  • a senior year GPA of 3.25 or better in their major, and
  • prerequisites with a B- or better: two courses in the Social Sciences (e.g., Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development), two courses in the Biological Sciences, one of these having a lab, e.g.., Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, one course in introductory Statistics,
  • a demonstrated commitment to serving individuals or populations with personal or environmental challenges that affect their ability to participate in satisfying and productive lives
  • Certificate of hepatitis B vaccination series upon enrollment
