For Graduate Students
How to Apply
To apply to the Graduate Institute For Teaching, graduate students must:
1. Identify a Potential Mentor
A list of faculty members looking for graduate student teaching fellows for the academic year 2008/09 will be posted on this website in early March 2008. Interested graduate students must then contact that faculty person, and obtain agreement from the faculty to work together. Teaching fellows can apply to work with faculty outside their own home department (i.e., a student in the Drama department can apply to be a teaching fellow in the English department). A faculty mentor cannot work with more than one teaching fellow per year. A graduate student can also approach a faculty member who is not listed, and ask about their interest in applying for this program. In either case, the application must be jointly submitted by a graduate student AND a faculty member.
2. Complete the application form
The faculty / teaching fellow pair will complete the pdf application form and submit it via fax or mail to Charlene Carle, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The deadline for the application is mid-March (specific deadline to be determined). No application will receive final acceptance until a copy signed by both the faculty member and the graduate student is obtained. Charlene Carle's fax number is 617-627-3016 and her campus address is Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Ballou Hall, Medford Campus.
