AAAS/NSF Science and Engineering Fellowship Program: Fellows spend one year at the National Science Foundation (NSF), beginning in September 2004, learning how NSF funds science, while providing scientific, engineering, and educational input on issues relating to NSF's mission to support fundamental science and engineering research and education. AAAS/NSF Science and Engineering Fellows will be placed in offices throughout the Foundation working with staff involved in the planning, development and oversight of agency programs. The programs include all fields of fundamental research including biological, computer and information, mathematical and physical, social/behavioral/economic, and geo-sciences as well as engineering and technology, education, or public, legal and legislative affairs.

American Institute for Economic Research Fellowships: Opportunity for researchers to spend a summer (or more) at the Institute pursuing their chosen course of research. The Institute is an independent, nonprofit research organization dedicated to scientific inquiry into economic problems and to the education of the general public through wide dissemination of its research results. Candidates must have strong writing skills, and the ideal candidate will be able to communicate research findings to a general readership. Applicants who have a Ph.D. or have completed all but their dissertation are preferred, but others with demonstrably strong writing skills will be considered.

American Institute for Economic Research Summer Fellowships: Awards about a dozen Summer Fellowships each year to college and university seniors who will be entering a doctoral program in economics or affiliated program (e.g., law and economics, economic history, etc.). We also consider applications from those students enrolled in such programs for no more than one academic year. The program is not designed for students wishing to pursue graduate work in a business school program (e.g., finance, MBA, etc.). Summer Fellows attend the Institute for an 8-week period of study and are provided with room and board at the Institute plus a $250 per week stipend. Those who demonstrate exceptional potential are awarded Fellowships in-absentia if they are enrolled in an accredited graduate-degree program in economics for the succeeding academic year. In-absentia Fellows receive full or partial payment of tuition or a monthly stipend for all or part of the academic year, or both.

Bosch, Robert Foundation Fellowship Program: The program strives to provide young American professionals (23-34) with executive level internships in the federal government and private sectors in Germany. Seminars in Berlin, Frankfurt/M. and Munich as well as visits to Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium and France provide a meaningful understanding of issues facing the European Union and Germany today. Candidates are competitively chosen from the fields of business administration, economics, journalism and mass communications, law, political science and public affairs/public policy.

Brookings Institution: Research Fellowships in Governmental Studies: Annual fellowship program to provide one year of residence at the Brookings Institution (Washington, D.C.) for doctoral candidates whose dissertation topics are directly related to public policy issues. Fields of study include: public policy and economic studies, including the general fields of economic growth, international economics, human resources, industrial organization, regulation, public finance, monetary economics, and economic stabilization.

Canadian Studies Graduate Student Fellowship Program: Promotes research in the social sciences and humanities with a view to contributing to a better knowledge and understanding of Canada and its relationship with the United States and/or other countries of the world. Priority topics include bilateral trade and economics, Canada-U.S. border issues, cultural policy and values, environmental, natural resources, and energy issues, and security cooperation (in alphabetical order). In addition, projects that examine Canadian politics, economics, culture, and society as well as Canada's role in international affairs are welcome. The purpose of the fellowship is to offer graduate students an opportunity to conduct part of their doctoral research in Canada.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute: Opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the federal level in the public policy area of their choice through the General Public Policy Fellowship. All aspects of public policy are considered such as: issues affecting children and families, international affairs, economic development, education, housing, local government, etc. CHCI also aims to develop leaders in the areas of public health administration (Edward Royal Public Health Fellowship), telecommunications policy (Telecommunications Policy Fellowship) and corporate-public interest (Corporate Fellowship).

Echoing Green Foundation: The stipend serves as seed money to start a new public service organization or an independent project. The proposed project can be domestic or international. Eisenhower World Affairs Institute: Dwight Eisenhower Thomas Pappas Graduate Fellowship Program: Offered annually to PhD students at Harvard University and Tufts University who are currently in the process of writing their dissertations. One Fellowship, worth $10,000, is awarded each year. Fields of study covered by this fellowship include international relations, security studies, government, economics, business administration, and history.

German Chancellor Scholarship: U.S. citizens who have completed at least a Bachelor’s Degree by the time the Programme begins are eligible to apply. Applications may come from prospective leaders in professions spanning all sectors of American society - public, private, not-for-profit, cultural, and academic (the arts and humanities, social and political studies, law, business, architecture, journalism and economics). Risk Policy Fellowship Program: Fellows work for one year at either the U.S. Department of Agriculture or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, providing scientific and technical input on issues relating to human health, economic, and environmental aspects of risk assessment or risk management. Applications are invited from individuals in any physical, biological, or social science, any field of engineering, or any relevant interdisciplinary field. All applicants must have a Ph.D. or an equivalent doctoral-level degree by the application deadline (January 10, 2004). Individuals with a master’s degree in engineering and at least three years of post-degree professional experience may apply. Individuals with a D.V.M., M.D., or a Ph.D. in the natural sciences or economics are especially encouraged to apply. Risk modelers are particularly sought.
