AAUW Selected Professions Fellowships: Awarded to women who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and who intend to pursue a full-time course of study during the fellowship year in designated degree programs where women's participation traditionally has been low. Candidates in all programs except the master's in engineering and medicine are eligible to apply for support for the final year of study only and are expected to receive their degrees at the end of the fellowship year. Women pursuing master's in engineering programs are eligible to apply for either the first or final year of study. Women in medical programs may apply for either their third or final year of study. Doctoral candidates in engineering must be entering the final stages of writing their dissertations. Special consideration is given to applicants who show professional promise in innovative or neglected areas of research or practice in areas of public interest.

AFCEA Fellowships: Awarded to full-time postgraduate students who have earned Master's degrees or the equivalent and who are currently enrolled in a doctoral degree program in electrical, electronic, chemical or communications engineering, physics, math, or computer science. The dissertation title or abstract of the specific area of research is required.

Shrader Scholarships: Scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded to full-time postgraduate students currently working toward a master's degree in electrical, computer, chemical or aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, computer technology, electronics, communications technology, communications engineering, or information management.

Department of Energy Advanced Scientific Computing Research: Computer Science: Research in computer science to enable large scientific applications through advances in massively parallel computing such as very lightweight operating systems for parallel computers, distributed computing such as development of the Parallel Virtual Machine (PVM) software package which has become an industry standard, and large scale data management and visualization.

Department of Energy Advanced Scientific Computing: Networking: Research in high performance networks and information surety required to support high performance applications - protocols for high performance networks, methods for measuring the performance of high performance networks, and software to enable high speed connections between high performance computers and networks. The development of high speed communications and collaboration technologies will allow scientists to view, compare, and integrate data from multiple sources remotely.

DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship: This program works to identify and provide support for some of the very best computational science graduate students in the nation. Program of study must include computer science, mathematics, and a science or engineering.

DOE High Performance Computer Science Graduate Fellowship: The program is open to United States citizens who are senior undergraduates or in their first or second year of graduate study at a university within the United States. Applicants must be pursuing or planning to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science with an emphasis on high-performance computing.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): National Network for Environmental Management Studies: Annual program to support a range of fellowship activities designed to help students refine their professional skills and enhance their knowledge of environmental issues. Fields of study include: environmental policy, regulation and law; environmental management and administration; environmental science; public relations and communications; computer programming and development.

Grass Fellowships in Neuroscience: Seeks to encourage independent research by investigators early in their careers and to increase research opportunities for persons trained for careers in neurobiological investigation. Neurobiological approaches supported include the following: neurophysiology, membrane biophysics, integrative neurobiology and neuroethology, neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, cognitive neuroscience, cellular and developmental neurobiology, and computational approaches to neural systems.
