Albee, Edward F. Foundation: A residence for writers, painters, sculptors and composers, the Center is open from June 1st to October 1st. Residencies are for one month periods of time. The standards for admission are, simply, talent and need.

American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA): Regular Student Fellowship: Annual program to provide support for graduate students in classical and ancient Mediterranean studies and related fields who have, preferentially, completed at least one year of grad work. Fellowships available in archaeology, history and literature, art history and other fields. Graduate expected to be able to read French, German, ancient Greek and Latin as well as have a reading knowledge of modern Greek and Italian.

ASECS/Folger Institute Fellowship: This $2,000 award, funded jointly by the Folger Institute and the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, is given annually to an ABD graduate student or a postdoctoral scholar conducting research in the period 1660 to 1815. Institute-NEH Postdoctoral Fellowship: Offers annually a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in any area of early American studies. A principal criterion for selection is that the candidate's dissertation or other manuscript have significant potential as a distinguished, book-length contribution to scholarship. Applicants may not have previously published or have under contract a scholarly monograph, and they must have met all requirements for the doctorate before commencing the fellowship. Those who have earned the Ph.D. and begun careers are also encouraged to apply.

National Ten-Minute Play Contest: Each script must be no more than 10 pages. Previous submitted plays, plays that have received an Equity production, musicals, children’s shows, and any unsolicited longer one-act or full length or full length plays are not accepted. All ten-minute scripts will be considered for the Heideman Award ($1000) and the Humana Festival.

National Women’s Studies Association Graduate Scholarship: NWSA will award $1,000 to a student who, in the fall of 2003, will be engaged in the research or writing stages of a Master’s Thesis or Ph.D. Dissertation in the interdisciplinary field of women’s studies. Newberry Library École des Chartes Exchange Fellowship: This fellowship, open to graduate students, provides a monthly stipend and free tuition for an American graduate student at the E'cole Nationale des Chartes in Paris for a period of three months. The E'cole des Chartes is the oldest institution in Europe specializing in the archival sciences, including paleography, bibliography, textual editing, and the history of the book. Preference will be given to students from schools supporting the Center for Renaissance Studies.

In the past, fellowships have been awarded to candidates in anthropology, architecture, art history, economics, education, history, linguistics, literature, philosophy, political science, public health, psychology, religion, and sociology, but eligibility is not restricted to these academic areas.
