American Society of Theatre Research (ASTR) Fellowships: Annual award to support and encourage scholars to continue in their academic endeavors related to theatre or the performing arts. Anyone who holds a terminal degree and has been a member of ASTR for at least three years is eligible. http://www.umd.edu/thet Liberace Scholarship Fund: The purpose of the fund is to provide grants to accredited colleges and universities that offer degrees in the performing and creative arts. These grants are to be used exclusively for scholarship assistance to talented and deserving students. Programs funded include: Creative and Performance Based Arts Disciplines such as Music, Theater, Dance, and the Visual Arts. http://www.liberace.org/liberace_foundation/liberace_scholarship.php National Ten-Minute Play Contest: Each script must be no more than 10 pages. Previous submitted plays, plays that have received an Equity production, musicals, children’s shows, and any unsolicited longer one-act or full length or full length plays are not accepted. All ten-minute scripts will be considered for the Heideman Award ($1000) and the Humana Festival. http://www.actorstheatre.org/humana_contest.htm Newberry Library Weiss/Brown Publication Subvention Award: Subsidizes the publication of a scholarly book or books on European civilization before 1700 in the areas of music, theater, cultural studies, or French or Italian literature. Authors must document that their projects have been accepted for publication and provide detailed information regarding the publication and the subvention request.
