How to Apply
The Graduate Studies online application can be used to apply to any of the graduate or certificate programs offered by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering, except studio art (M.F.A.). To apply using the online application, click here. Studio art applicants should go to www.smfa.edu and download the M.F.A. application materials. Studio art applicants should make their check payable to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and send their forms and credentials directly to the Museum School. Separate applications (including fees) are required if you apply to more than one graduate program.
If you are currently enrolled as a Tufts undergraduate or are a Tufts certificate student applying to a master's or doctoral program:
The graduate and certificate programs offered by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences are described in the Tufts Graduate School of Arts and Sciences catalog. Detailed descriptions of the School of Engineering's graduate programs and certificates are contained in the Tufts School of Engineering catalog. If you did not receive the catalog you need, contact the Office of Graduate Studies and request a catalog.
Your complete application to all graduate and certificate programs includes:
- Application for Admission
- College Transcripts
One official copy of each of your college transcripts.
- Letters of Recommendation
One for certificate programs, two for engineering management, and three for all other degree programs.
- Résumé
- Personal statement elaborating on your reasons for wanting to pursue graduate study at Tufts
- Application fee of $70* (non-refundable)
Please make your check payable to the Trustees of Tufts College
*The application fee is waived only for current Tufts undergraduates and graduate students, students in Tufts certificate programs, and IRT and McNair Scholars. No other fee waivers are considered.
Important
All programs require a bachelor's degree. See Application Information for Individual Programs (.pdf) for additional requirements for each program.

Materials submitted in support of your application must be accurate. Any information determined to be erroneous or incomplete may result in expulsion from a graduate or certificate program. Credentials received without an application form and fee are retained for only three months from date of receipt.
All materials submitted in support of an application become the property of Tufts University, and neither originals nor copies of this material will be returned or sent to a third party.
